A Pack of cards

Activity type: this is a fun ‘Friday’ type activity which practices the use of imperatives

Level: Intermediate and above

Teacher's notes:

  1. The day before the lesson in which you intend to do the activity, explain to the group that you are going to ask them to show each other how to play a game with ordinary playing cards.
  2. Show them a deck if they do not know what type of cards you mean. You can even show them a quick game that you know such as snap.
  3. Ask the students to bring packs of playing cards to the next class.
  4. In the lesson, ask the students to tell you the games that they want to show the rest of the group.
  5. Write the names of the games or rather their names in English - as much as the translation allows.
  6. Group the students so that they are mixed with students who are going to show games that the students in the group do not already know.
