Crumpled up questions

Type of activity: A novel way to get students to talk.
Level
: Pre-Intermediate and above (If you would like to adjust the level, change the questions to suit your class)

Teacher's notes:This is primarily a fluency activity.

  1. Photocopy the questions below and cut them into strips.
  2. Put the students into pairs. Give each student a question. Tell the students to discuss the question. Allow the students enough time to finish their discussions on their strips.
  3. Once you tell them that time is up, they should crumple up the pieces of paper and throw them to a different pair to discuss. The students should then unroll the question that they have caught and discuss that. Keep doing this activity until the students have discussed all of the questions.
  4. The idea is that it is a fun way of generating interaction and fun.
