Activity type: this is a fun way of expanding the students’ vocabulary i.e. looking at words which have the same spellings in English but have different meanings.
Level: Upper Intermediate and above
Teacher's notes:
- Give the students an example of a word which has two different meanings but the same pronunciation and spelling. Ask the students for examples; tell them to shout out examples.
- Once they have done this hand out the worksheet below.
- Tell the students that they have to answer the questions below and find one word for each question.
- Tell them to do it as quickly as possible. It is just for fun.
- Go over the answers.
