Activity type: this is a warmer in which students pretend to be famous people and imagine what those famous people did the night before.
Level: Intermediate and above
Teacher's notes:
- At the beginning of the lesson, ask the students to get into pairs and ask them to discuss, with each other, what they did the night before. They can do this for a few minutes, whilst they are doing this monitor and correct.
- When they have done this, tell the students that they are going to pretend to be famous people and to imagine what they did the night before.
- Hand out a famous person’s name to each student. Make sure that they know who the person is.
- Allow the students a few minutes to imagine what that person likes, dislikes, what kinds of things they are famous for etc.
- Tell them to then stand up and mingle discussing their previous evenings as though they were those people.
- Monitor and correct as they are doing this or note down errors and do delayed error correction at the end of the activity.
Follow-up activity: ask the students to think of people that they would really like to be because they admire them so much.
