Activity type: this is a warmer in which students have to mingle around the classroom asking and answering questions.
Level: Pre-intermediate and above
Teacher's notes:
- Printout the questions below. Cut them into strips and place them randomly around the classroom before the students are in the classroom.
- Once they are in class, tell them to walk around the room; as they are doing do they should look at the questions.
- Tell them to pick one question up and to ask the person who is nearest to them the question.
- They should discuss the question for a few minutes. Once they have finished, they should then move onto the next question.
- This activity can be repeated at the beginning of every lesson. It is very effective for developing fluency and reviewing language structures that you have taught i.e. you can change the question according to what has been taught in class.
Note that for fun and possibly with younger learners you can hide the questions around the room and tell the students to find them. For example hide them under chairs, above bookcases or by coat pegs.
